ETHPrague was undoubtedly one of the most impactful and unforgettable events of the year. While the numbers were certainly impressive, with a packed schedule of informative and forward-looking talks and presentations, a bustling hackathon, and plenty of opportunities for fun, networking, and collaboration, what really made this event special was the incredible community of participants and contributors who came together from all over the world with the motivation to drive positive change. With the support of amazing sponsors, talented hackers, and a diverse group of experts and speakers from both the solarpunk and Ethereum fields, ETHPrague was truly a melting pot of ideas and perspectives, and a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in the blockchain space and beyond. From lively debates and discussions to deep dives into the latest technology and trends, there was never a dull moment at ETHPrague, and attendees left feeling inspired, energized, and ready to build a better future.
The event was truly memorable with its abundance of incredible talks, amazing sponsors, supporters, contributors, and volunteers, as well as side events, collaborations, and musical performances that took place over the course of three fun-filled days. There was so much to see, do, and experience that it was impossible to cover everything in a single article, but let's walk through some of the highlights that made the event truly unforgettable.
From the opening ceremony by Josef J., a core member of the local community and the ETHPrague organizing team, that set the tone for the rest of the event, to the inspiring keynote speeches, hands-on workshops, thought-provoking panels, and fireside chats that left the audience in awe, every moment was packed with excitement and energy.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Nick also introduced the quadratic voting process for hackathon projects, which was made possible by Factory DAO. He explained how this innovative process allowed attendees to have a more participatory role in the hackathon by giving them a say in selecting the winning projects.
The topics and speakers for the conference were chosen with the intent of providing a platform for experts in the fields of Ethereum, sustainability, and solarpunk to share their ideas and insights. The main objective was to create an environment that would enable attendees to discuss and explore new possibilities for collaboration and innovation to create a brighter future, and discover ways in which Ethereum and blockchain technology can help with societal, urban, and environmental challenges.
Talks related to the Solarpunk topic included, but were not limited to:
“Participative tendering – Rohan Island in Prague” by Martina Bauerová, an urban designer at Prague Institute of Planning and Development’s Office of Public Space.

The event was carefully designed to foster an atmosphere of cross-disciplinary exchange and exploration, with the aim of sparking meaningful and impactful conversations and collaborations that would drive progress and innovation in both the Ethereum and sustainability communities. Through careful curation of the speakers and topics, the organizers facilitated a thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating experience for all participants, encouraging them to think critically and creatively about the intersections of these diverse fields. Panel discussions and fireside chats were also designed with this in mind.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin participated in a fireside chat with Amir Taaki, a hacktivist and programmer who pioneered many open-source projects, including a privacy-focused project called DarkFi. Their discussion focused on "The Prehistory of Ethereum and Proto-Network States".
