Since its inception as a community conference, ETHPrague has maintained its unique, cozy atmosphere while growing more robust over the years. The event focuses on the vital intersections of decentralized technologies, sustainability, and Solarpunk visions, building bridges between novel and impactful technologies. For three years, it has drawn some of the most dedicated people from the Ethereum ecosystem and beyond, who gather to build, hack, and connect—always with great community, cyberpunk, and solarpunk vibes in Holešovice, Prague.
This year, the event relocated to the Holešovice Market, featuring multiple buildings and outdoor areas and various side activities. This shift created a mini-festival atmosphere, enabling attendees to connect with each other and engage with the local communities and neighborhoods. The expansive outdoor spaces and large buildings not only increased capacity for attendees but also amplified the event's overall impact, allowing participants to feel more connected to the city, its history, and surrounding nature.
The Holešovice area, also known as Prague 7, has always hosted the conference, though many might not know its history. This former industrial area, once dominated by factories with heavy smoke and poor living conditions, has transformed into one of Prague's most creatively repurposed and coolest neighborhoods. While it has become one of the city's hippest areas, this transformation has been led by different development approaches and has sparked various perspectives on how to integrate it into the city.
As an event emphasizing solarpunk values, choosing a repurposed event space for ETHPrague was not a coincidence. While many old industrial buildings in the area have been demolished or slated for demolition amid rapid property development, some factory structures have been thoughtfully revamped. The Holešovice Market exemplifies this transformation—former slaughterhouses and butcheries now serve as event spaces, art galleries, workshops, theaters, and coffee shops, fostering community gatherings and artistic growth. The market's sprawling structure, with its multiple buildings and spacious outdoor areas, gives more space to explore, and its riverside location offers easy water access, allowing visitors to stroll along the river or cross the newly built pedestrian bridge to Štvanice Island and Karlín.
The preservation of these repurposed buildings remains a topic of debate, yet they serve as vital reminders of history and how our past has shaped our present reality — whether we embrace that legacy or not. While their long-term future remains uncertain due to inevitable innovation and rapid property development in the area, for now they can host events like ETHPrague, bringing value to local communities and beyond. In a fitting transformation, ETHPrague turned these old factory buildings into futuristic Solarpunk-themed indoor gardens, creating a space where past meets future innovation — in the very buildings where industrialization was once hailed as revolutionary.
With more than 140 sessions throughout the 3 days, the conference program maintained its focus on uniting Ethereum's transformative potential with Solarpunk's vision of a sustainable and equitable future through groundbreaking technologies, featuring many experts with diverse backgrounds. This combination enabled deeper exploration of how decentralized technologies can empower individuals and communities.
ETHPrague has consistently demonstrated its commitment to bringing diverse perspectives by inviting experts from beyond the Ethereum ecosystem, including prominent voices in sustainability, urban development, and social innovation. This year's conference expanded its intellectual horizons even further by assembling its most diverse speaker lineup to date.
The discussions ventured into critical societal challenges, exploring complex issues such as systemic social inequality and the increasing concerns around governmental authority repression. Additionally, the conference dedicated significant attention to examining cutting-edge solutions for pressing climate issues and sustainability challenges, bringing together thought leaders who could bridge the gap between technological innovation and real-world environmental impact.
The conference showcased many prominent Ethereum-focused sessions as well, featuring speakers who are among the ecosystem's most dedicated contributors—a distinctive quality that ETHPrague has naturally preserved each year.
